The Filtralite brand is managed by Leca International, within the Saint-Gobain network. Together, we combine global technical expertise with localised production and customer support. From our production bases in Europe, Filtralite filter media products are delivered and installed in over 60 countries around the world.

How it’s made — A proven production process

Filtralite filter media is produced by heating natural clay to temperatures of up to 1,150°C, expanding the material into durable, porous aggregates. After firing, the material is crushed, sieved into specific grain sizes, and classified into multiple density types to meet different filtration needs. 

Key properties of Filtralite media include:

  • High porosity for improved filtration and biofilm growth
  • Low bulk density for easier handling and transport
  • Long service life and excellent mechanical durability
  • Flexible sizing and performance for physical and biological filtration
