With new filter materials, and especially Filtralite Pure Mono Multi, we have increased the capacity of our water works without having to increase the actual footprint. Our research has been profitable.

The special porosity of expanded clay enables the bio-filters to host bacteria and act as a physical filter simultaneously.

We have clearly seen the many advantages of Filtralite compared to sand as filter medium, and we will go Filtralite 100%.

The results are positive because, since the installation of the Filtralite, we have far exceeded this initial process limit. We have even continued to produce, partially, with SS reaching a level of 70 mg/l in 2022. […] I would do it again with pleasure. I have already recommended it to other stations.

We set out to explore an alternative material to sand and, in 2018, we ended up trying Filtralite.
The difference from the past is obvious. A sand filter had to be washed every two days, while a Filtralite filter can last a week.

Before we knew of Filtralite Air we used bark in this type of filter. However, bark densifies when mixed with water and retains moisture with difficulty. The Filtralite Air filters do not collapse and they retain water well. Thus, the filter requires less water to provide optimum conditions for the bacteria. This, together with the recirculation, means annual water savings of approximately 60%.

After 5 years of operation, the filter material remains an effective and stable filter material in the biological air purification process for the production facilities in Kalundborg.

During 12 years of operation, we have achieved great results with this nitrate removal technology. We run a stable process in biofilters with Filtralite. This technology does its job well.

Our polishing filters remove half of the amount of phosphorus and solids. There has been no need yet to replace the Filtralite layer.

The mixture of a composted material and bark chips previously used as a media did not meet our expectations. [...] Thanks to the advantages of Filtralite Air expanded clay, we have achieved stable operation of our biofilters.
