Filtralite Pure NC 0,8–1,6 is a high-quality filter media, manufactured from expanded clay material, used for filtration in drinking water treatment.
Filtralite Pure Mono-Multi combines two types of Filtralite Pure filter media with different densities and sizes (Filtralite Pure HC 0,8–1,6 and Filtralite Pure NC 1,5–2,5) to improve even more filter runs and production capacity for filtration in drinking water treatment.
Filtralite Pure HC 2,5–5 is a high-quality filter media, manufactured from expanded clay material, used for biological treatment in drinking water plants and pre-treatment for desalination.
Filtralite Pure HC 0,8-1,6 is a high-quality filter media, manufactured from expanded clay material, used for filtration in drinking water treatment and in swimming pool filters. Combined with Filtralite Pure NC 1,5-2,5, they offer the Filtralite Pure Mono-Multi solution.
Filtralite Pure NC 1,5–2,5 is a high-quality filter media, manufactured from expanded clay material, used for filtration in drinking water treatment. Filtralite Pure NC 1,5–2,5 is also used in Filtralite Pure Mono-Multi.
Filtralite Pure Mono-Multi Fine combines two types of Filtralite Pure filter media with different densities and sizes (Filtralite Pure HC 0,5-1 and Filtralite Pure NC 0,8-1,6) to improve even more filter runs and production capacity for filtration in drinking water treatment and pre-treatment in desalination plants.

The qualification tests conducted at the CIRSEE on Filtralite media in comparison with conventional media led to expect better performance in terms of water quality, increased filtration rate, longer filter runs and more flexibility to accept short-term degradation of water quality.
A series of contact filtration experiments are carried out to investigate the performance of an expanded clay aggregate (Filtralite) filter. It is demonstrated that expanded clay aggregates can be used in dual media down flow filters as the only filtering material. The density difference of Filtralite NC and Filtralite HC is sufficient to prevent intermixing of adjacent layers for the grain sizes.

A comparative assessment of data from all dual-media filters tested shows that the combination, involving Filtralite NC 1.5–2.5 mm on top of Filtralite HC 0.8–1.6 mm, exhibits, overall, the best performance. The improved performance of this dual filter medium is attributed to the rough surface texture, with crevices that tend to better retain flocs.
The pilot filter with Filtralite which was studied in this work reduced iron and manganese significantly and removed more than 95% of both metals. The start-up period was about a week for the iron oxidation and significantly longer, closer to 70 days, for the manganese oxidation. [In Swedish]
Pilot test with Filtralite Pure HC 2,5-5 demonstrated that the nitrification process developed rapidly (2-3 days) in the aerated biological filter without "seeding" the filter media. By the beginning of the second week of operation, about 85% ammonia removal was achieved, with raw water ammonia concentration of up to 2.4 mg/l (N) and a filtration rate of 14 m/h.
A pilot test was done at Babite (CZ) with Filtralite Pure Mono-Multi to confirm efficiency of iron removal technology for groundwater treatment, with target filtration rate 20 m/h and up.
A Filtralite Pure filter was tested as an alternative to a GAC-filter, in combination with a pre-ozonation and a lower coagulant dose.
Pilot trials, conducted by Thames Water, compared conventional sand and anthracite/sand media alongside crushed recycled glass and Filtralite Pure Mono-Multi. The Filtralite solution confirmed as the best one for treatment of eutrophic water from reservoirs.
Removing the manganese greensand in the existing filters and replacing them with Filtralite filter media resulted in a rapid improvement of treated water quality and a literal stop to frequent RO cleanings.
Investigation of the newly developed filter media Filtralite on its general filtration performance in surface water treatment for drinking water and with special respect to removal of microbial contaminants.
